Parental Policy Statement
The goal of parental involvement is the development of a partnership between home and the center that ensures all children become successful lifelong learners. Hamilton and Harris Academic Learning Center strongly believes in the importance of building parent involvement community wide.
Parental Involvement Mission Statement
Hamilton and Harris Academic Learning Center is committed to providing your children with the tools and resources needed to help achieve their academic goals. This system recognizes that families are their children’s first teachers. A sensitivity and respect of human and cultural differences is encouraged.
In order to meet the needs of parents, students and staff, the center will:
• Distribute to parents a written parental involvement policy.
• Notify parents of the policy in an understandable and uniform language specific format.
• Offer flexible working hours.
• Involve parents in the planning review and improvement of programs.
• Develop a center—parent compact that outlines the responsibilities of student, teacher, and parent/guardian for improved student achievement and to achieve the states high standards.
Family Involvement and Training
Hamilton and Harris Academic Learning Center recognizes the need of meaningful opportunities for family involvement and training: Family Reading Night; Family Math Night; Family Writing Night; and Family Night of the Arts.
Program-Parent Communication
Hamilton and Harris Academic Learning Center will make appropriate program information available to parents through the following methods:
• General announcements will be made on our telephone message center and on our Web Page.
• Each student will receive an agenda book to keep parents informed of assignments due. The book will provide a means of daily communication for teachers and parents regarding the student’s achieve
• Parents will have an opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher to discuss the progress of their child and to enhance the parent-teacher relationship.
